VCS Warm Spaces and Food Grant Fund

08/11/2022 by Comms Team

The VCS Warm Spaces and Food Grant Fund is intended to support voluntary and community sector organisations in their work to help residents through the cost of living crisis.

It aims to boost the current offer of warm spaces where residents can keep warm and access other services and increasing opportunities for local communities to develop initiatives that link social activities to food with a particular focus on older, vulnerable adults who are at risk of isolation. In this context, ‘food’ means a healthy, nutritious, substantive meal e.g. breakfast, lunch or dinner.

If you are an individual seeking support, there is information on where to find help locally on the Wandsworth Cost of Living Hub.

Timescales

Due to the short timescales involved in funding and delivering provision, the funding is focused on projects that may be existing, to enable them to expand the current service offer or geographic reach. Other new projects will also be welcomed.

Services will need to mobilise quickly and have a clear exit strategy.

Applications can be received at any time from now, with the deadline being 5pm on Monday 5 December 2022.  We will aim to assess all applications within two weeks of them being received, subject to demand.

Free Suicide Prevention Awareness Training

01/11/2022 by Comms Team

Mind in Brent, Wandsworth and Westminster is offering a free Suicide Prevention Awareness session tailored to those working with children and young people in different settings across South West London (Merton, Sutton, Richmond, Kingston, Wandsworth and Croydon).

The session is aimed to increase confidence of professionals who work in various services providing support to children and young people, including local council services, different charities, youth centres and anyone involved in the care of young people. The session is about breaking stigma and taking away shame associated with suicide by encouraging conversation in those settings and challenging existing misconceptions about mental health and suicide. Our aim is to support individuals within the community to build meaningful networks, promote awareness around suicide and increase confidence to support those most at risk.

If you are interested and looking to attend, booking is now open for your organization/team/service. The session lasts for 1-1.5 hours and can take place either online or in-person. Our sessions are flexible and can accommodate large and small groups. To arrange a separate session for your team, please contact a Suicide Prevention Coordinator for Children and Young People, Ana Djurdjevic at adjurdjevic@bwwmind.org.uk

Please note that this session is not a comprehensive training, it is an awareness session delivered as part of a wider Suicide Prevention Project in South West London.
